TV coverage of WOC 2008

03/09/08 16:30 PM
Last week, important meeting of responsible WOC organisers and Czech TV’s redaction of sport took place.
The basic agreement on broadcasting the WOC 2008 was signed last year, now further details were discussed. Management of the redaction of sport is satisfying the WOC organisers‘ visions at top level. The WOC coverage will be ensured by experienced team, which was involved in last years‘ MTBO WOC or this year‘s European Biathlon Championship 2008. Czech TV will employ two transmission trucks and at least 14 cameras. Coverage of all final events will be ensured and projected on large screen at arenas as well as on the WOC webpage. The latter will probably be provided as paid service, with height of the fee and technical solution yet under decision. In the Czech Republic, Czech TV will broadcast in total eight hours of live coverage and many further records. The entire TV signal is offerd through EBU Programme Coordination to the TV stations abroad. By now, Danish and Finnish TVs have ordered live broadcasting of WOC 2008 and others are interested too.
It was necessary to conform the schedule of events to the needs and technical possibilities of TV coverage. It would be more difficult for ordinary spectator to be still in the picture in case ladies‘ and men‘s events would pass at the same time. Sprint and middle finals as well as relays will thus pass separately, one class will start after the other will be finished. TV graphics is provided by AKI Sport.
On 21 June, organisers and Czech TV will have last test of live broadcast of an O-event, when women’s elite class final of Czech sprint championship will be covered and broadcasted.
