Orienteering Festival 2008 Scoring System

(a) The score will be calculated from the six stages of the OF 2008.

(b) Competitors’ results in their four best stages count for their total score.
The overall OF results lists are sorted in descending order of score; where the total score equals, the highest score in any of the stages wins.

(c) Scoring in a stage:
In a given stage, the arithmetic mean-time of the three best competitors is calculated in each class:
T_s = (T₁+T₂+T₃)/3
Points for the i^th competitor are then calculated using the following formula:
B_i = 100 × (2 - T_i/T_s)
“B_i” calculated is rounded to two decimal places.
If competitor’s time is twice the mean-time or more, he gets 0 points; if a competitor is disqualified, he gets 0 points.
If there are only 5 competitors scoring in a class or less, the “T_s” shall be the time of the best competitor.

(d) Only competitors who got any points are listed in the overall results.
